Meath Made: Live Music by Harpist Jennifer Leahy

Take a break and listen to the soothing sounds of harpist Jennifer Leahy in our foyer in-between checking out the crafts fair and participating in a workshop as part of Meath Made Creates.
Jennifer is a harpist from Co. Meath. She began learning the harp at the age of six with Dearbhail Finnegan. She has since gone on to study with Gráinne Hambly at Maynooth University. Jennifer has performed across Ireland and the UK, in prestigious locations including the National Concert Hall, Dublin Castle, Slane Castle and Croke Park. She has performed in concert with members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Jennifer has often performed for many dignitaries including President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins on many occasions. She was also invited to perform at the World Harp Congress in Sydney in 2014 with the Meath Harp Ensemble. She also performed at the Irish Embassy in Canberra that same year. Most recently Jennifer embarked on the 2024 Guinness Celtic Spring tour, performing for three weeks around Austria, Italy and Switzerland with Gormlaith Maynes (concertina). Jennifer has been very successful in her harping career and has been the winner of many national competitions including the ESB Feis Ceoil. In 2017, Jennifer was commissioned by Genbuken Society Ireland to compose a piece of music. Jennifer was also the recipient of a high achievers award from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Jennifer is also the musical director of the Mullingar Harp School and The Boyne Harp Ensemble. She teaches a wide genre of music including classical, traditional, and pop, and composes and arranges for both solo harp and harp ensemble.
