Visit our interactive exhibition, and explore the tiny, yet essential creatures living in our rivers.

Guided by some of our Take Me to the River project artists and creative partners, dive into the miniscule, and expand your imagination in the preservation and celebration of your local natural resource.

Together we will share our experiences of the Boyne and Nanny Rivers; the activities, sounds, and space it provides us, and nature combined. Exploring artistic activities, scientific knowledge and playful activism, this workshop focuses on spoken and written word, mapping, drawing and clay etching. Pupils will have the opportunity to engrave an individual Sgraffito disc, and see their Critical Creature appear from the river clay slip.

Responding to river health and the importance of the creatures we do not always get to see, these workshops have a strong focus on Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE), and link to many other areas of the primary and second level curriculum including looking & responding, drawing, design, architecture, biodiversity, and critical thinking.

Workshop facilitators are Sarah Doheny of Cineál: Research + Design architectural practice and Take Me to the River project partner; sculptor, and socially engaged local artist Penelope Lacey; and artist and Solstice Arts Centre Learning & Public Engagement Coordinator Deirdre Rogers.
